Introduction

This is Robin. The words come to you, one at a time, so your eyes can stay still. Keep reading. Robin has a few tricks, and here is the first: vellichor.

Robin has a dictionary built in. Stop on a word you don't know, and it tells you what it means, right where you are. Then the words carry on.

You set the pace. Slow down for a hard chapter, speed up for an easy one. In the app, your words per minute are shown at the top right.

The page is never far away. Stop the words, and you can see the page around them, with your place marked.

That is Robin, and there is more inside. Bring your own books, or start with one of the classics already on the shelf. Press the Download button below to try it yourself. Enjoy.

The Great Gatsby is 48,504 words.

It is on the shelf the first time you open Robin, with sixteen more classics. This is what reading them looks like.

01 Reading

The words come to you, always in the same place.

Each word holds for as long as it needs: a long word a little longer, the end of a sentence longer still. It reads like a voice, not a metronome.

02 Speed

Set the pace with your thumb.

Turn the wheel to read faster or slower, anywhere from 60 to 900 words a minute. Press the centre to stop, and again to carry on.

Reading speed set to 300 words per minute, with what that means: 200 ms a word, 50 seconds a page

03 Dictionary

Stop on any word you don't know.

Swipe up on the wheel, and what the word means appears right above it. No app to switch to, and your place never moves.

The word supercilious in the reader, its definition above it: arrogantly superior; haughty

04 The page

The page is never far away.

Swipe down on the wheel, and the words open into the page around them, with your place underlined. Close it, and you are back on the word.

The page around the current word, with supercilious underlined

05 Search

Find the line you remember.

Search the whole book, turn the wheel from one match to the next, and start reading from the one you meant.

A search for supercilious, the first of two matches marked on the page in The Great Gatsby

06 The shelf

Seventeen classics, there from the start.

Gatsby, Dracula, Pride and Prejudice, Frankenstein and more come with the app. Bring your own books too: any EPUB without copy protection.

The shelf: The Great Gatsby with its cover, 48,504 words in 9 chapters, above Moby-Dick and the other classics
Reading speed set to 300 words per minute The word supercilious with its definition above it The page around the current word, with supercilious underlined A search for supercilious, marked on the page The shelf of classics, The Great Gatsby selected

07 iPhone and iPhone Duo

Optimized for iPhone, and for iPhone Duo.

Open the Duo and the words sit on top, the wheel below, like a small laptop.

Robin on iPhone: the word supercilious with its definition above it Robin on iPhone Duo, half open: the word on the top screen, the wheel on the bottom

08 Finishes

Eight finishes.

Silver comes with Robin. The other seven can be bought in the app, and each one repaints the whole device, screen and wheel included.

Silver Brushed aluminium, white wheel.
