Nothing about you leaves your phone
Robin has no servers of its own. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party code that reports anywhere. The only connections it makes are to Apple: to show prices in the store and to complete or restore a purchase, to show how big each dictionary is and to download the ones you add, and, if you use iCloud, to keep the minutes you have read in your own iCloud so the count follows you to a new phone. Where the law requires apps to check a user's age, Robin asks your phone for your age range; the answer stays on your phone, is not saved, and is never sent to us or anyone else. Your reading place and your settings are stored on your phone, and in your phone's own backups if you make them. A book you open is not copied: it stays where you saved it, which may be a cloud folder, and Robin keeps its title, its author and a reference to the file so it can open it again.
Bug reports
When you write a bug report or feedback in Robin, it is saved on your phone. It goes nowhere unless you send it yourself. A report includes what you typed, the screen you were on, the title and author of the book you were reading and how far in, your phone's model and system version, the app version, and your reading and display settings. Robin also keeps the reports your phone's system hands it about crashes, hangs, slow launches, heavy processor use and heavy disk writes, call stacks included.
If you email a report from Robin, the message carries the report as text, with a one-line summary of the latest system report. When mail is set up on your phone, two files are attached as well: every report saved on your phone (bug-reports.json) and every system report it holds (diagnostics.json). Exporting from the same screen hands over the same two files. We receive what you send: the message, its attachments and your email address.
What we do with an email
We use it only to answer you and fix the problem: that is answering your request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and our interest in fixing the app (Art. 6(1)(f)). Mail is received by Cloudflare (Email Routing) and kept in a Gmail mailbox. Cloudflare and Google may process it outside the EU; both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We delete the conversation within 12 months of the last message, or sooner if you ask.
This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from anyone else: every file comes from robinreading.com. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses and request details to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse. That is our interest in a working, secure website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or give it to you in a form you can take elsewhere. Where we rely on our interest in fixing the app, you can object, and we will stop unless we have a compelling reason that outweighs yours. Write to the address below. If you are in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data-protection supervisory authority.
If you are in Brazil, the LGPD gives you the right to confirm whether we hold data about you, to access, correct or delete it, to be told who we share it with, and to revoke any consent you gave. You can also complain to the ANPD.
Do Not Track
Robin does not track you, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off.
Crash and performance data
Your phone's operating system can hand Robin reports about crashes and slowdowns. Robin keeps them on your phone, where they can go into a bug report you choose to send. Separately, if you have chosen in your phone's settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports. That is Apple's system, you control it, and we cannot see who you are from it.
Purchases
Robin, its finishes and its tips are bought through Apple, and a finish earned by reading is claimed the same way, at no cost. We never see your payment details, your name or your Apple account. We only learn that a purchase happened, so the app can unlock what you bought.
Children
We do not knowingly collect anything from children, and the app itself collects nothing from anyone. If your child has emailed us, write to support@robinreading.com and we will delete the conversation.
Changes
If this ever changes, this page will say so first, with the date, before an app update that does it.
